Biologi FMIPA UI

Student

In addition to academic activities, the Department of Biology FMIPA UI also facilitates the development of hard and–especially–soft skills of students through student activities organized by student organizations at the Department level, namely the Student Association of the Department of Biology (HMD Biologi UI). In line with the vision and mission of the Department of Biology, HMD Biologi prioritizes conservation and prospecting issues of Indonesian biodiversity in its various activities. Some examples of these activities are (1) UI Biofest which aims to introduce biodiversity to the general public, especially children and adolescents ranging from elementary school (SD) to junior high and high school (SMP / SMA) and (2) Biodiversity Day which aims to enliven the commemoration of the world biodiversity day commemorated annually on May 22. Unlike other departments in FMIPA and in UI, the Department of Biology also has student organizations under HMD Biologi that also support the vision and mission of the Department of Biology FMIPA UI, so called the Semi-Autonomous organization (BSO): (1) OMPT Canopy which accommodates the interest of Biology students towards plant diversity, KSHL Comata which accommodates Biology students who love wildlife, SIGMA-B which accommodates the interest of Biology students to the marine, and Proteus which accommodates Biology students who love the life of microorganisms. Those BSO have contributed not only to the development of soft skills and knowledge of students of BSO members, but also to the surrounding community (check here).
